Alain Badiou was born in 1937 in Marocco. He was a disciple of Louis Althusser and was deeply influenced by Jacques Lacan.
The centerpiece of his oeuvre is “Being and event” published in 1988. Alain Badiou’s philosophy has a big influence on contemporary leftist movement, particularly for defending the ideas of revolution and communism. Alain Badiou has always been politically active and has had radical thoughts.
Along with Sylvain Lazarus and Natacha Michel in 1985 he founded “Political organization” which was concerned mainly with the problems of migrant workers. Alain Badiou’s ideas may be important for understanding the current political and art situation in Armenia.
